‘Annette’ review: Adam Driver, Marion Cotillard and a puppet makes three in this darkly strange movie musical

(Chicago Tribune) With songs of love, murder, panic and regret by the Sparks duo of Ron and Russell Mael, director Leos Carax's “Annette” is the cruelest movie musical since “Pennies From Heaven.” It's bound to divide audiences in its two-week Chicago premiere this week at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
